Sunday service: “Thinking about the Environment”

Rev. Lara Hoke queried in her compelling sermon “The Tide Is Rising” (on September 15, 2019), “Why aren’t we acting like our house is on fire?” following on the eloquent and powerful call to action from young Greta Thunberg, Green New Deal is in the air. We need to act now! But is everything what it seems to be? Your fellow congregant, David Butz, old 60’s era environmentalist and white-haired engineer, has been digging into the details and finds that things may not be quite as simple as we think, nor the solutions as obvious. He will be sharing his thoughts in his sermon “Thinking About the Environment.” It is expected that much of what he has to share will challenge some commonly shared assumptions, so the service will be followed by a talk-back time during which everyone’s views may be shared and discussed. Mark your calendar to share in one of the most important efforts of our time.
