On Thursday, April 17, from 7:00-8:00pm, we will have a Maundy Thursday Communion Service. We will be in the vestry. The service will be held with participants gathering around a large table. It will be an intimate communion service, co-led by Rev. Lara and the Deacons, combining elements of the humanistic “Unitarian Universalist Eucharist” created by Rev. Chuck Freeman as well as elements from the liberal Christian tradition. There will be wine as well as juice available, and the bread will be available with gluten free and vegan options. This service is open to all. Please join us!
Because the service includes communion, it is probably the most effective if you can be in-person. We will live stream the service using our usual Sunday service Zoom address; if you do wish to (or need to) participate remotely, please have wine/juice and bread ready. We also recommend sitting near a window to see the natural light, and to have a candle lit. To participate online, members and friends can click HERE shortly before 7 p.m. and enter the website password to receive a link to participate in the worship service.
Maundy Thursday (sometimes called “Holy Thursday”) is a Christian commemoration of the Last Supper and the mandate (“maundy” comes from the Latin mandatum) of Jesus to his disciples, “Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.”
