For Our Youth
FCU facilitates both a junior and senior youth group. This program
helps
to foster a sense of community within a broader community connection to
neighboring Unitarian Universalist (UU) churches and our Clara Barton
District. Additionally we provide the opportunity for spiritual growth,
social action accomplishments and fun-filled activities and events.
Junior Youth Group
The Junior High Youth Group program provides social activities and
community service projects for our 6th, 7th & 8th graders.
They
meet
roughly once a month with a goal of building community and having
fun. Parents/guardians of JYG members and FCU adults volunteer
by
coordinating an activity, chaperoning, or any number of things. At the
beginning of the year, the
Youth meet to determine
the schedule of monthly activities. Past
activities have included: movie night with potluck dinner, laser rock
show at
Museum of Science, Outdoor Challenge team building and ropes course and
many
more. Traditions include a big bake sale in November with proceeds
going to
charity and running the carnival games at FCU’s annual country fair.
Youth interested in joining JYG should have their
parent/guardian contact the JYG coordinator for
details by sending email to
junioryouth@fculittle.org
Our Whole Lives
OWL - Our Whole Lives. OWL is a comprehensive sexuality education
program for 8th and 9th graders. It is offered semi-annually in conjunction with
other
UU churches youth.
Senior Youth Group
The Senior High Youth Group program provides an opportunity for our
high
school youth (grades 9 to 12) to remain engaged in our faith community.
These young adults explore important life issues and socialize with
their peers. Meetings are the first and third Sunday of each month at
10:00am and as scheduled.
