For
the remainder of the church year, the Search Team has worked on
organizing and reporting on the data we collected during the completed
phases of the self study. We will complete the preparation of our
findings for the time when it will be needed.
Our Vision
The
3rd part in the Creating Our Future series was wonderfully attended,
very energetic, and with lots of laughs. In the Saturday
workshops, several groups of congregants participated in facilitated
exercises which concluded with draft vision statements. On Sunday
morning, the facilators combined all the draft statements from
Saturday's sessions into one final draft statement that was brought to
the congregation for an unveiling after the potluck lunch.
The final Vision Statement was presented and overwhelming approved at Annual Meeting.
Creating the Future We Dream Of: Part 3: Our Vision
It is an
exciting time in the life of FCU – in the previous sessions we’ve
worked on who we are as a church and how we got here. In this
third workshop we will be working on where we are going as a
church. Your voice is important in the creation of our vision
statement. Members and friends are invited to attend one 3 hour
session on
Saturday March 21st at 9am or 1:30pm or 6pm. Child care is provided. Signup in the Vestry or using the
Vision Workshop Signup.
The following day,
Sunday March 22nd,
we hope you'll join us for an all church potluck followed by the
presentation of the final Vision Statement, developed from all of the
input of the previous day’s sessions. Child care is
provided. Signup in the Vestry or using the
Lunch & Vision Presentation Signup.
Creating the Future We Dream Of: Part 2: Ourstory
The
first transition workshop called Unfinished Business on January 11th
was a smashing success! The authentic and heartfelt sharing by the
participants was quite moving. The Ministerial Search Team came away
with a strong feeling of affirmation by our fellow congregants as this
conversation echoed many themes gathered during our self-study work. In
turn, these themes will continue to inform our search process. We were
grateful to be part of such a safe and caring gathering.
The second workshop is called Ourstory where we will be looking at FCU’s factual and behavioral narrative.
We look forward to participating with all of you - hope you'll join us for an all church lunch followed by the workshop on
February 8th!
Creating the Future We Dream Of: Part 1: Unfinished Business
The first session is designed to give us the space to let go of the
“ghosts” of the past that are still hanging around our midst, and who
ought not go into your future with you. For some it will mean grieving,
for others accepting the loss, and still others may need to recognize
that underneath the anger they might be feeling is really a sense of
grief, and possibly a need to forgive. This workshop, led by Rev. Marta
and Standing Committee member Caroline Marvin, will help participants
see the value in letting go, forgiving, if necessary, and leaving the
feelings behind that may be interfering not only with the future
development and direction of the church, but with one’s own spiritual
development.
Creating
Our Future: A Three Part Series
“So, now that we agreed to a two year transitional period, what’s
next?” After the recent announcement this was probably the
number one question, voiced and unvoiced. The answer is: we
will continue to explore and understand ourselves, and what we hope to
build for our future.
Rev. Marta, the Transition Team, Deacons, Standing Committee, and
Ministerial Search Team are organizing a three part series called
"Creating the Future We Dream Of". This time of
self-reflection and conversation will help us on our transitional
journey. We plan to be ready to undertake a successful
Ministerial Search as a result of this important time
together. All are encouraged to attend all three workshops to
build on each conversation and give yourself the opportunity to go
deeper. Please join us!
· Sunday, January 11th: Unfinished Business
· Sunday, February 8th: Ourstory
· Sunday, March 22nd: Our Vision
Transitonal Period Extension

Team the Executive Team has decided to embrace the interim period and
intentionally embark on a two year transition journey.

Some Self Study Results
THANK YOU to those who took the time to convey your ideas during our
Fall Cottage Meetings, to complete our survey, and to share all your
thoughts. We appreciate all of your participation!
Some numbers:
· Cottage Meetings: 9 held with 92 total participants (~37%)
· Survey: 157 total respondants (~63%)
· Individual input: more than 30 separate discussions
Tabulating, compiling, and processing all this input is taking time,
but we would like to share some
Initial
Self Study results.
